trem on RG7420 vs. 7620...

how much of a difference? i know the 7620 has a very good trem compared to the 7420, but by how much?

also, if I were to by a hardtail version of either, there would be less difference in quality, right?

thanks

Still looking for an Ibanez seven string, eh? I'm sorry mine sold before you could get it.

But yeah, the difference between the RG7421 and RG7621 is mainly about the pickups. The fixed bridges are very similar, they just have different saddles. And that's just a looks thing, functionally I don't really think there's much difference at all. But the trems, the quality is a lot more important.

But who wants a trem anyway? :p

Dylan7620 is just really niceDylan7620 is just really nice
example: i have a 7620 and can wrench on the bar all day and it'll still be playibly in tune. i went to a GC about a month ago and tried a 7420 thinking "the trs can't be THAT bad" i hit the low b, did one and only one dive bomb and the whole thing went out of tune. i sighed to myself, hung it back up and went on.. end of story.

im sure there are better examples on other 7420s. it was a guitar center setup, thats not saying much, considering most of them don't even do "setups" on floyd style guitars. it was a really beat up 7420 as well. i have used trs' on other six strings and they wernt nearly as bad, but not great either.

are you planning on picking up an RG7? i think the 7620 would save you a lot of hassle down the road if you plan on using a trem. as for the hardtails RG7*21s the only difference is the slightly better pickups in the 7621 but if you plan to swap them out they are pretty much the same guitar.

You can retrofit a REAL floyd rose in there with absolutely no routing/mods or anything. It'd be around 150$-ish... i think.

Although I'd argue that a REAL Edge outperforms a REAL Floyd Rose in every respect...
