It's loud unplugged which is always a good sign.
+ on all positions which is why I didn't even bother to replace the stock pickups. The neck pickup especially is very nice, I almost prefer it over my UV neck blaze depending on what I am playing.

I don't always do that. My two UVs both have the Blaze Bridge in the bridge position. The K7 has PAF7s. This would be the first guitar I do this too. Essentially a lot of people recommend putting the Blaze Neck model in the bridge because it provides better note definition, a tighter low end, and less compression....while still having plenty of output. Like, I love the tone of the Blaze Bridge, but the PAF7 which is a lower output model has a fatter and tighter sound to it. The Blaze Neck in the bridge should be a compromise.

Here is what DiMarzio says about it.

...You can get everything from a good jazz sound with a clean amp to a wall-of-sound with heavy overdrive. Many players have discovered this is also a very good bridge pickup when playing with a serious amount of distortion—power chords retain more openness, and single notes have a lot of clarity.

Recommended For: All positions Tech Talk: The trend of the last several years has been to play 7-strings with massive overdrive. Taking the extreme low end of the seventh string into account, we've been recommending the Blaze neck model for the bridge position as well, where the lower output and tighter lows create better chord definition. Before Ibanez switched to the PAF 7, the 7-strings that they built for Korn were equipped this way.

Do what I did and import on from the US. Just be wary of what you insure it for, cos that's what Custom's base their charges on.

Awesome! My money says the trem's blocked, which would both explain the unusual resonance and the tuning stability.

If it's blocked its not blocked in the usual way I see people do it. As in, I dont see any piece of wood or anything in the trem cavity. If its blocked its in the spring department somewhere, I suppose I could look and find out.

But yeah, I love the guitar... it plays tremendous, itll be interesting hearing how the blaze neck and stock neck mix together.

gorgeous

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

kentheterrible is on a distinguished road
metalfiend is the new owner of my s7420bp AND I WILL NEVER PART WITH ME S7420FM. especially since i have one of the more limited models with the wave inlays. I personally put a duncan distotion in the bridge and changed to higher quality pots with a 2 meg pot for the volume and honestly, i don't think emg's can hang with a well set up pair of duncans. go with a distortion for the bridge and a jazz for the neck. i liked my neck pickup too but the jazz has the same overall tone but it's just a higher quality tone. sounds wierd but i think it does. rock on with the s7's. since my s7fm i got rid of my 1527 and have purchased 2 other s's since they are seriously my favorite guitar.
rock on.
kenny

the resonance and tuning stability are actually pretty common on these. i think it has to do with the thinner mahogany body. the trs isn't bad, it just will never be a lo-pro.
