Ibanez UV7BK Green Dot Arrived (Pics/Thoughts)

Well, the UV7BK I got off eBay last week arrived on Saturday. I've played it for about 8 hours so far, and so far I'm nothing but pleased. Here are some of my thoughts though...

1) The white pickguard is as hideous in person as in pics. It's actually so ugly, it's charming in a way. I don't mind it at all that much, but I will still be putting a black one on there.

2) The old-style neckjoint didn't really cause me any problems at all. It was very comfortable, and only presented a slight problem when going up to the 21+ fret, which I don't do that much in a given song if at all.

3) I love how old the neck feels. It's so smooth, it feels like it's been played a ton (obviously being a piece from 1991), it's the nicest neck I've gotten to play as far as texture. I love it.

4) This guitar sounds different than my UV777BK for some reason. I have no clue why (besides the obvious differences in any two pieces wood, etc), but it's cool. It sounds terrific.

5) The green dot inlays look a lot deeper and more 3 dimensional in person, I really dig it.

Over all this is a really sweet guitar, and I think for $825 I didn't pay too much (came with the original Universe case as well). Here are some pics of the new guitar and the rest of the family

(PS: I just ordered a S7420FM, more on that some other time...)

Beautiful collection. I am finding myself wanting to get a UV7BK but I think I'd want to get a UV777BK first, only because I regret ever selling mine.

I love the neck on my PWH, it simply rules aside from the neck joint which took me no time to get used to, the neck is so smooth, I love it. Of course when I play my 7620s or my S 7420, there is a difference and it is a little bit easier to play up there in those high notes, but I have gotten used to the difference and prefer both.

Nice guitars you got there!

Thank you.

You have an S7420 eh? I just picked a S7420FM I saw online. I've never owned one of the Sabers before, what are your thoughts on it? I know it has a weaker trem (perhaps I should install a tremol-no on this thing, I dont use the trem much anyways)? I do plan on replacing the pickups. Any recommendations welcome.

I just thought it was beautiful, and $525 w/ case seemed very reasonable for one in excellent condition. What attracted me to it besides it looks were the mahogany body/maple top combination which I obviously don't have on any of my 7s atm, and also the light-weight of it. I recall when I picked it up once was the lightest 7 I had ever played.

Peace

Mmmm, that guitar makes me want some mint chocolate chip ice cream. I love it. I dont know why so many dudes rag on the looks of the UV7BK. I love em. In fact if I hadnt decided to go with my first 7620 thats what I would have gotten. Ive been in love with that model since I saw rusty cooley with one back in the day. The only reason I passed on it was because I heard they have medium gauge fretwire and I love my frets large. Now that I have a 7620 that ones next in line then maybe a UV777BK.

Try to exclude the possibility of suffering which the order of nature and the existence of free-wills involve, and you find that you have excluded life itself.

Very hot. It definetly has that -so ugly it's cool- factor. Kinda reminds me of Ken Burtch's Throwup 7620.

It looks a little like something someone from Korn played on.

Wow, all I can think is that those grey K-7s look way cooler than I thought. Almost puts the UVs to shame...almost. Again, the inlay (we won't get into it).

Awesome score, I kinda like the white pickguard too, in that "Oh god, what is that...kinda cool" sort of way

i hate the white pickguard

other than that, i severely want one of those green dotted UV's. nice collection!

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Yeah, the K7 is still my favorite believe it or not. I love the way it plays and sounds, and looks (yes, despite the inlay which I totally have forgotten about until someone brings it up

I don't have a lot of money or anything, I'm just a college student. My "real" job is, I work at my college tutoring people in various subjects. I get paid a bit. The majority of money I get is just from buying and selling on eBay, I tend to make pretty solid profits most of the time. For example, I just bought a couple Mesa 2:90 Poweramps for $299 each at Guitar Center, then sold them all on eBay for $800+ each. Easy money you know, lucky too. Those kind of deals don't present itself often, though.
