More work on my UV...

well, it doesn't sound hollow anymore... maybe because its not hollow anymore haha... i used extra scraps of swamp ash to fill in the pickup routes for the neck and middle pickup, clamped and glued them in place, then i used 2 more pieces of swamp ash to fill in the part of the electronics cavity where the tone pot was as well as where the 5-way switch was, direct mounted the pickup to the body, and isolated the pick guard from the body using some dark grey foam(which i also put under the pickup to give a bit of a spring type action) and the guitar sounds phenomenal to me now, with the blocked trem and the filled in body, its completely lost the hollow tone i used to loathe... i think the big metal pick guard also had something to do with it being so severe on my UV in particular, but i think the foam and not having the pickup mounted to it kind of took it out of the equation... now when i tap on the pick guard where it used to be hollow, theres not a hollow thud theres a solid sound, which is actually the same kind of clunk as when i just hit part of the body of the guitar... i don't have pics, i tried to get some, but the dude who usually has his camera didn't charge his battery

I cant imagine a UV sounding hollow.

try putting a diamond plate pick guard on it without a neck and middle pickup, or 5 way switch or tone pot, lots of room for resonating...

Yeah i get what you mean. You got a point, there's no question that there's play between them for resonating. Materials of course play a role - jeeze yeah, I can imagine how that might be with diamond plate, may more pronounced I would think than plastic.
