Tremelo Spring
Hey
I wanna use the tuning of drop B on a sevenstring (B, F#, B, E, G#,C#, F#). I think it's a killer tuning. I can't do it on my RG1527 and keep the tremelo parallel. Do I need to add another 1 or 2 tremelo springs. What's the price of that and how will that effect the intonation etc.

Actually to drop tune and keep your trem level, you should be fine with the 3 springs you have right now. By drop tuning you are going to need less spring tension, not more.
Heres what I suggest: Loosen the springs considerably. Block the trem from the front face cavity with something hard. The idea is, you want to block the trem so that it is sits level. Reference your knife blade edge. This way the springs are pulling against the blocks or what ever you use. (I use some neon green jem vol/treb knobs, twist off soda caps work to) Tune the guitar to drop B. If you are keeping it this way you may want to now set the intonation as long as the trem is flat and where you like it. Now what you can do now is. You can loosen the springs until the trem starts to float off of the blocks,,,, this tells you that the tension is now on the strings. You can then tighten the springs and this will pull it back. What this will do is, it will get you close to where you want to be when you unblock the trem. It will help you from having to forever chase the tuning and fighting spring tension. Part of the idea is, you had the trem flat and in position with the blocks, the guitar was in tune. Now when you remove the blocks, the guitar will go sharp or flat, this now tells you which way to move your springs tension. Now if you desire a tighter feel, I would add 1 more spring and do the above all over. I assume that you are going to be using heavier guage strings, like 10 through 56 or bigger? ~A |

i got 4 springs on my 7620. and it holds it perfectly. usually 3 to 4 do it. it also depends on your string gauge. but, if you wanna be safe, get 4. springs are piss cheap for a trem.
