That swirl is fuckin SICK. I don't think I'd recommend painting the bridge though... I'm pretty sure it could work against you when it came to the small adjustments on the bridge. Like, material getting into the bolt screw holes in the saddles, etc. I dunno, just a concern I thought I'd voice.

Alright bro! I wondered when you were gonna pipe up with these threads.

I had thought about an orange theme as well, but as I said earlier, I looked over at my orange Marshall cab, and went 'nahhh'. Matching gear looks, well....odd.

Ok, lets take one thing at a time.... walks over and turns off Nevermore
Starting with painting hardware. To me this is the easier of the tasks you want to do. The main thing with this is getting the paint to stick, and then making sure it doesn't stick in the wrong places. First you have to remove buttons, washers, knobs, switch tips, take out the screws, etc. Now you have to rough up the plating or smooth plastic so the paints sticks. You could use fine sandpaper, but I like the flexibility of using scotchbrite pads, which I use for a lot of abasion uses. Now mask off anywhere you dont want paint to go, ie: screw threads, shafts, you get the jist.

For painting hardware I found that semi-gloss automotive looked best, the most natural. High gloss looked too cheap, and flat looks interesting in certain uses. Go with at least two coats, leaving plenty of drying time, and absolutely use one coat of clear semi-gloss at the end to seal in the color, and to help protect it, obviously.

Here's a pic of the ones I just did

If I ever paint a bridge, which I don't recommend, I never paint the saddles. I dont want any soft paint coming in between the string and the saddle, possibly dampening the tone even slightly - metal on metal for me man! Gumming up the saddle movement might be a problem too.

If you can find one of those guys (i've seen them on ebay) who sell the Ibanez logo transfers, perhaps they could make you one special in orange. Shit, an orange Ibby & slash logo in orange.....that would smoke.
If not, you could do it with some good masking, or stenciling. I never done that one yet.

Ive always wanted to experiment with coloring binding too, and I think I could pull it off. We'll see.

On your dots, removing them is a bitch, and you'll have holes to fill, etc. Here's something that I think would look interesting with the whole black & orange theme - it instantly reminds me of halloween. If you're artistic enough, I would paint those dots to look like tiny, pumpkin orange jack-o-lanterns! How fuckin metal is that! And from farther out they still just look like matching orange dots. Jeez, I wish I did that now...DOH!

Anyway, shit I'm rambling on again...
Keep us posted, and TAKE PICS! I'd love to see how it turns out.

dude, dendro. I <3 you. lol.
your so funny. You went right over my head when you were unscrewing the stuff and what not. I was like "ya...thats...interesting?!"

well...the orange and black theme so you all know, isnt for the halloween-metal factor but actually. Orange was my favorite color as a little kid AND ORANGES is what florida is known for. Now's the best time then ever to reveal that my 8 string guitar that im doing with Dan (oni guitars) Is going to be an oranges themed guitar =o)

This is going to be the mini orange. we'll call it O.J.Ibanson.
