Question Yet Another Extended-Scale 7 Question

Hello all. I've been playing regular 6-string guitars for ~17 years and I just recently got into the 7-string world. Anyway, right now I have a 25.5" Ibanez 7-string, which is good for regular B tuning, but I'd like to tune down a full step (that way I'll be able to play all the songs I'd like to play without having to do any retuning), and it's a bit floppy when I try that. I'm using 10's with a 60 B and I don't want to go any thicker than that. So, I'm looking for an extended-scale 7-stringer with a trem. I'm thinking my only choices are an Ibanez RG1077XL, RG2077XL, Agile Interceptor, or Soloway custom, but I wanted to check with the authorities (you guys ) before beginning my search. If that's all that's available, I'm going to look for an Ibanez, but I'm sure it will take a while to find one of those, so if there's other stuff, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure why you'd rather buy a new guitar than just use a thicker string gauge but if you can find it get one of the Ibanez XL's, very good guitars. The only two alternatives I would consider would be the Agile Interceptor or a ESP-LTD SC-607B.

Schecter C-7 Blackjack is 26.5" scale, and I believe the Damien and Hellrasier models are extended range, too.

The ESP Stephen Carpenter model is 27", I believe, or at least, they offer one in that scale length.

My fingers are just used to 10's. I have 25.5", 25", and 24.75" guitars and they all have 10's on them. Plus, I think for downtuning, a longer scale length might keep things from getting muddy.

"I'm looking for an extended-scale 7-stringer with a trem"

Every once and I while I get a hardtail guitar and convince myself I can live without the trem, but I always end up selling it after a bit. I don't even use the trem all that much, but I need it to be there for the times I do use it. Otherwise I'd just get a C7 blackjack and be done with it.

that guy is headed in the right direction.
dude just try the new strings,i mean all you have to do is get a set of 11s, slap them on the 25.5 inch guitar ,and you should be set .just try it before you go out and buy a completely new guitar , i mean compare it $300+ for the guitar or about $8 for the new strings

smokey the bear is way more intense in person

Hey, for the price of a quick Google search, you are getting some informed info from some (sometimes) knowledgable 7-stringers. Besides, you listed a Soloway, and to my knowlegde, those don't come with a trem (for 7-stringers, although Jim might be willing to try it for a person willing to pay...)

Jeff Loomis of Nevermore has a Hellraiser with a Floyd Rose trem. I've heard word that the HR will be offered with a trem in the future, but we'll see.

And that Fernandes that my friend Ryan just picked up (covered in a previous post recently) is a 27" as well.

because buying new guitars is FUN

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

What the heck are baritone 7's tuned to??? They must be insanely low. (My brother has a baritone 7 string Ibanez, not sure which one though.)
