Heh... I find that a little strange. The tension must obviously be different than a normal 7 when tuned to standard then.

maskofduality is on a distinguished road
some people like it some people. it's definitely a bigger stretch between notes and i've heard some people say that they like the spacing it gives them between their fingers on the 12-22(or 24) range. For other's it's too much of a stretch.

and i think some people compare the sustain to that of a piano.

Think of it like this, a set of 9s on a 27" scale feel like a set of 10s would on a 25.5" scale instrument. Ultimately there is hardly any difference imo, I went from .060 for the low B on a 25.5" UV to .068 for a low B on a 27" 2077XL, and you can tune them up just as easily as you can a 25.5" scale guitar.

So you went heavier on the extended scale?? Not common since the tension is even tighter. I went from a 24.75" scale 7 string with 12-70's to my 26.5" scale Schecter and am using 11-62's on it and the tension is about the same.

On the other hand I'll say I definitely prefer the extended scale to regular scale. I'm just so used to it now it just feels so much better. But I have pretty decent length fingers. People with smaller hands most definitely would probably feel better on a regular scale.
