I dunno if this holds any water, but some dude that lives around this area came into the store i used to work at, and he was telling me he had his guitar tuned with a high A... I asked him how he did it, and he said he had a reversed headstock (I dont think this theory holds water) for more tension on the low side than the high side, and he put most of the spring tension on the bass side of his trem as well. He said thats the way he got to do it on a 25.5" scale guitar. He also said he used 7 guage as the high A. Like i said, he seemed a bit crazy, but who knows?

All I can say to that is hmm. That's right, hmm. There's nothing else that I can come up with for that one!

Okay, one the AX7221/7521s do NOT suck at all. I put a PAF7 in the bridge of it, it has incredible metal rhythm tone, and the stock neck pickup is awesome for leads and cleans, perhaps it's because of the "sweet-spot" with 22 frets. People need to quit ripping on it, I love the look of it also, and the feel of the neck.

Now, relavence to this thread. I've actually been thinking of switching the strings on my AX from 10-56, to 7-46 (maybe an 8) to get a high-a, I'll let you guys know how it works, I'll probably do it next week.

The AX7521 looks like a pregnant bumblebee ;p

Anyway, as far as the guy i was talking about... He told me it was a floyd rose type trem on there. He had most of the tension applied towards the bass side and it had a reverse headstock.. He told me it was a 25.5" Scale as well.

Edit:I just thought of something. I wonder if the High D string on a Chapman stick would function as a high A on a regular guitar? (thats tuned to the D on the 3rd fret on our high b string.. but on a 34" scale instrument..) Might work..

We should conduct a mass-funded test on this, so shredders can have their 5 extra notes on the high end.

I didn't think this would be more complicated than just getting a .007 gauge string...

You're quite testy when it comes to people expressing their opinions on the AX 7-string. I've seen you freak out on several threads now. NEWSFLASH! This is a discussion forum and it just so happens to center around topics discussing 7-string guitars. Did you happen to notice the URL address?

Look, it's apparent that you really like your AX. TO EACH HIS OWN! What works for you may not work for others. But, you cannot expect everyone to suddenly change their opinion of the AX just because you deemed it to be awesome. If I told you that a $49 beat-to-hell Harmony guitar was the coolest thing on earth, would you still think it was crap? I thought so.

On a personal note, I play on an AX7521 pretty frequently. I do a lot of guest spots with a cover band that are good friends of mine. The guitarist uses an AX for low-tuned stuff & I usually grab it because it's his only 7-string. Yes, it's a decent axe, but it's not the "be all, end all." Most people just aren't into the oddball design (i.e. bloated frying pan body w/ SG horns coupled with a super-squared off headstock).

So again, it is what it is. Don't get so bent out of shape because afterall, is it REALLY that big of a deal? That's like crying over spilled milk.

Chill out, man. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time.

WTF?
I wasn't freaking out at all. It was a calm comment, some one is being testy here, not me. Did I once say it was the ultimate axe, no, I said it deserves more credit than it is getting. So, I'll go ahead and blame this on the internet for having a lack of being able to express the inflection of my voice. I wasn't arguing, and on another note, I've never flipped out about the guitar in another thread.

And another thing, you quoted me out of context, those two comments were backed up by supporting comments and reasoning, you cut them out. Shannon, I respect you as a person and a musician, but you're the one who just went out all of the way to say that, was THAT such a big deal?
