Guitar got a floyd? Because getting an .008 to stay in the bridge tuned to G was a pain, and the thing snapped on me after about 3 minutes. I wouldn't try going higher than Gb with an .008 on a 25.5" scale, 24.75" might be okay.

I actually saw .007's at a store last week, when I was going throught their singles - they're D'Addarios. It's Guitar X in Denver. They have a website (I don't have enough posts to post links). Try them, the guy said he's never sold one before, he might be pretty psyched...

Post a couple times, come back, and then put up the link. jk Sorry, I'll take care of it: guitar x

They must be pretty slow if they get excited about selling single strings.

.008s just don't work on Floyds. As far as .007s, if you find 'em please post what you think. I would think they'd snap very easily the first time you bent a string, and I doubt you'd get them to be reliable tuned all the way up to A. I don't have a problem with .008s on my 7-stringers, because I use fixed bridges and I actually tune them down a half step, so the tension isn't a problem.

Nah, I was just kidding... Very nice guys there, btw, and a cool store. It was the first time I saw Keeley modded pedals on the shelves.
(disclaimer: I don't work for them, I've been there once!)

I don't like mentioning the guy, as we recently had another thread that was largely based on his arsehole-ishness, but Maestro Alex Gregory used to play a strat style guitar with a high A, and claimed to use a 0.006 that was made of this specially reinforced material by D'Addario. Apparently this was fully bendable, and felt about the same as a nine gauge string tuned to E. They were looking at making them publically available, but cost and lack of interest put paid to that. Sorry, I looked for the link to the article where he explained all this, but I think it's been removed.

Nothing like a good depressant to chase the blues away!

Hey, there was no need to say any of that stuff. Just let me be, you know. Some people act differently than others, and I hate making new threads. That's all there is to it.

That post was just mean.

Can't we just be friends?

I don't know why, but I seem to piss people off with whatever I say. (And not just on this forum, but also 2 other ones.)

No offence intended, but if I were you, I'd tone it down a bit.

This is a cool thread. And if you hadn't started it, we would have had people looking for high A's on a low B thread, and the conversation could easily get confusing.

I'm sure you mean well but if something comes off abrasive, it's in everyone's best interest, IMHO, to follow the mods' advice. They are wise and can teach us all a lot!
