Design ideas...
heres a couple of designs, the first of which i'm currently building in luthiery school, and the 2nd of which i designed for a friend the other night based on what he wanted in a guitar(yet also based on some of my other designs...)... when i got to luthiery school i went with a blank slate, no designs at all, and the first day i cranked out a strat like guitar that looked like this first design... if i'm going to be building these in the future, every body shape i have will be available as a 7... anyways heres the ideas, and the sharp pointy stuff i contour on the back, because i hate all the aggressive guitars i've seen because they cause aggressive pains in your sides, especially when trying to play sitting down... with the one i'm building now i have tested it sitting and standing, and i must say, it is as comfortable as a strat, its a very nice feeling shape, and i can't wait till i'm done with it... oh, and the top one is bevelled on all edges, and will have a bit beveled out between the horns and the neck for fret access
and yes, the images are big on the screen, but they are very small files, since they are basically only 2 colors lol ![]() ![]() i'm basically trying to break away from tradition with my designs, while at the same time still having some tradition to the guitars, because i don't want to build some freak guitar that no one will dig, i want to build something that i like and think others will like.

I really like that V shape, and the first design would be really cool if it was off-set a bit more (like a Strat-style guitar, but with those pointy edges and contours) in my opinion. I'd just drag the entire side down so it was a bit more like a Jazz bass kinda shape, but with those cool cut-outs and pointy-ness. But then, I do own a Strat, a Jazz Bass, and a Schecter Revenger-7 (similar off-set type shape)

I'm a big fan of the first one. I wouldn't mind building guitars myself either, and I've had an idea similar to that (first one), but kind of more like a creepy ass violin with difference on the interior of the body too. But the V... Bad as shit man, so metal and rather.... "alien" at the same time. Maybe alien's not the right word... Maybe more like a space wizard's shredding accessory. Replaces his staff. Kinda looks like a serving utensil, too, haha. I think the way the fingerboard meets the body on those designs looks pretty badass too.

The 1st looks just like some boutique guitar line I've seen on Ed Roman's site.
The 2nd looks like that upper swoop would be digging into your forearm. |

yeah, i'm trying to design aggressive guitars, but at the same time not be too over the top, the beauty imo is in the simplicity, and yet in the detail too... to me, they have a sort of subtle elegance, especially the first one... and it seems like i've incorporated the violin cutout in some way shape or form in every design i've done since starting school.... something about that kind of cutout really strikes me you know...

They look a little too much like the ESP AX-400 model and also very similar to Rico Jr models, most notably the Hellion. Personally a little too gothic for my tastes, but whatever floats your boat. I do think those Rico Jr "Vixen" models are sweet though.

man, some of the comparisons i get are too funny... i look at those other guitars, and just don't see it... i've had a few people say it looks like a bc rich, yet bc rich has never designed anything like any of my designs, shannon's comparison so far is the only one i've gotten that i kind of agree with...
