Unfortunately, i can't do every mockup for every person that's considering getting a guitar from LGM.
At this point, i prefer to direct all such requests through Jeremy, which means you have to be already talking specs with him and preferably have put down your deposit. I'll give you guys a bit of background on how the mock-ups came into being... Creating the mock-ups was a "bonus" that really went beyond the scope of what i promised to deliver for the LGM site when it launched in October 2004. It initially started with me making a mock-up to show Jeremy what i had in mind for my own Leviathan, which would be my compensation for designing, building and maintaining his site. Jeremy didn't have more than a couple of completed Leviathan prototypes to show the public, and it occurred to me that i could build on the mock-up i had made for myself, and use it to show a ton of different options for finishes, inlays, woods and pickups. Creating a bank of very diverse mock-ups would give him a way of showing people the range of what was possible, to spark people's imagination, and to show the the Leviathan design could go from classy to wild and everywhere in between. The majority of the finishes you see on the Leviathan mockups on the LGM site were conceived and named by me, including almost all of the exotic wood and transparent combinations, as well as the "halo" bursts. Some of the mock-ups were so successful that customers have asked for the specific finishes depicted on the site (some of which worked very well in the digital realm, but were harder to achieve in real life). I have continued to do mock-ups as a favour to Jeremy for the first few Leviathan customers because i wanted his business to succeed. But he's now made more instruments, and more are on their way, so there are real photos of real instruments to demonstrate what is possible and less need to create mock-ups. For the occasional customer who still needs help visualizing what their instrument will look like, i will still work with Jeremy to help create a mock-up, but it does take time and i don't get paid for it. |

Completely understandable. I don't mind waiting til I put a deposit down to get more into the visualization, but I wish there were more pics of actaul leviiathan guitars available. Perhaps by the time I make a deposit, there will me.

I REALLY dig Leviathans, I do...
But I think you are probably gonna have to wait a lot more than 6 months to get yours dude. I know this guy who has been waiting for his LGM for almos 2 years. I'm not saying yours will take that long but I suggest you to check that out cuz, as far as I know, Jeremy is extremely busy ATM.

it probly has to do with a lot of people wanting uncommon features (@Freddie idk about ur friend so i'm not commenting about what he wants). i know that the more uncommon the feature, the longer it takes the custom shop to make it and the higher the price they'll charge. just look at the conklin and jackson custom shops. especially the conklin custom shop.
if you want your custom shop guitar that much faster you should try simplifying the features or use more accessible materials (ie quilted maple or swamp ash instead of some exotic wood with crazy looking spider cracks and burls that has a list price of $200 but takes years to acquire... another example would be a normal floyd style trem versus one with the yet to be released graphtech piezo saddles... or an 8 string fixed bridge versus a hand milled fanned fret 8string tremolo bridge) but then again for some ppl, the belief is "what's a custom guitar w/o the uncommon features unique to me"? |
