![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well, i wouldn't be using .012's in the first place, but if you're tuning to A and using .012's, a .064" will probably be too wimpy. Others on the board will probably suggest something thicker. I usually use whatever I can find. On my acoustic, I use .012-.068" though. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | RG7321? Definately go for a guitar string, since its a hardtail. A .066" will do, I think, but I still say a .068" would be more even with the rest of the lower strings. ![]() Good Luck. |

![]() | Being that I've never tried to use string gauges of that extremity, I can't give you direct advice, but I do have a few cents to add. On my 7 I use Ernie Ball SuperSlinky's (9 - 52) I occasionally use D'addario Superlight 7-string (9 - 54) I prefer the EB's. I've alternated back and forth between the two, because after years of testing, these are the ones I was most happy with. However, on my 6, I've been recently using Dean Markley Blue Steel Jazz (.11 - .52). I'm still not 100% sure about how I feel about this setup, but thus far it's worked for me. I don't play this guitar half-as-much (unless I want to play some alt-tuning stuff) but it doesn't just sit either. Take into consideration, on my 7-string, I use standard tuning (BEADGBE) about 99% of the time. On my 6-string, I've been using a 1 1/2 step drop (C#, F#, B, E, G#, C#). I really need to have my 6-string adjusted professionally, especially since it has not ever been adjusted in the 15 years I've owned it. But, I must say, I really do enjoy the added tension on the low C# string with the .52. Works really well for "chugga-chugga" type riffs. Signature Removed - Image exceeds 300 px by 100 px |
