Lefty guitarist forum?

Anyone know if there is a left-handed specific messageboard/forum?

I've seen a few shop sites that specialize in lefty guitars, but no websites or forums providing informating and a place for fellow lefty's to share their finds and thoughts.

Just wondering. I'd love to make one if there isn't already one.

I never really understood why a left handed person must learn to play left handed guitars-since we all start out lacking the coordination needed to play it anyway.?

they just want to be different

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

My girlfriend's never played guitar in her life, but if she picks one up, or mimes playing guitar, she does it left handed without even thinking about it.

It's just the natural way for them to hold the instrument. I'm sure before you ever picked up a guitar you air-guitared to something, and I'm sure you did it right handed without thinking about it.

My grandparents were from the old country. They made me learn to do things right-handed. They also encouraged me to play guitar.

Wouldn't you say the same thing about any skill that requires corridination dominantly in one-hand (ie - writing, throwing a ball, cutting with scissors, etc..)

If the hand that is dominant in our bodies could be chosen, things would be alot different. Our dominant hand is determined by genetics. And whether or not we use or dominant hand, is determined by habit and environment.

When I frist picked one up-nothing was " natural". I can't really dispute you-your probalby right. I however, just can't understand it.

Are your grandparents from early 1900's China?

(* Dormant thinks that they still do force people to be right handed in China )

I'm with eleven59 and 7stringninja on this one - think about how you throw a ball - you naturally have a preference ingrained to throw it with your stronger hand - you want to understand it -it's very boring and is all about left v right brain dominance (if you are right handed you are left brain dominant * Dormant would like to point out that this is a very basic way of explaining things and as part of his degree did study brain patterns associated with left handed/right handed/damaged brains etc. but can't be bothered to go into any real detail without writing the most boring thread response ever )

When I started to play guitar 12 years ago every guitar I picked up I held left handed and it made sense to do so - Would I retrospectively have forced myself to play right handed looking back? Maybe, maybe not. There are potentially advantages/disadvantages either way if all of the fallacies are true.

btw - 7stringninja there is a left handed guitar forum somewhere (sorry I can't find it) but it is very boring - it's lots of left handed people whinging about why they can't find good guitars left handed and recounting tales of why they play left handed. There is some GAS but not enough pictures. I found it ultimately very depressing.
