What inspired you to go 7

Why did we all choose 7 strings? what made you want to use one? In all honesty after I heard some of meshuggah's albums I was like "I hate tunning my guitar down to do this...let me go get one." and I found the rg7321 for 100 bucks at a shop near me

Trey from Morbid Angel. He was the first guy I have ever seen play one live. I caught Morbid live in Boston back in July of 1994, I was impressed with him. It took me a few of years to finally go out and get one.......

I joined a band that required me to play a seven. I wish I had a better story than that, but hey, I've got one now and I love it.

To be honest, the seed was planted by Korn.

I had been tuning my 6-string down for years & I decided I wanted that plus my high E string back.

Carcass, Fear Factory, Morbid Angel & a bunch of early-mid 90s grindcore bands from Earache Records contributed to my fascination with lower tunings. Then Korn came along playing lower than B.

Me and my buddy wanted to have THE heaviest band around and we realized that our Mexican made Fender Strats didn't sound very good in A Standard minus the high D. So we went out and I got an LTD F-207 black cherry and he bought an MH-207 I believe (well it was one of the Strat style LTD 7's).
Then I stopped for a while and went back to 6's and finally decided that I couldn't get the sound I wanted without that 7th string, so I'm back

I was intrigued back when the first Ibanez Universes came out, and I just happened to find a used one early in 1991. Didn't really get into it then, but I eventually had to explore the possibilities of sevens more fully. Just wish that there was a bigger variety of high-end sevens out there--I've never been totally happy with any of the ones I've owned, and I seem to have fewer problems that way regarding six-stringers.

I used to tune my 6 down a bit when I got into Fear Factory... then went back to standard 6 tuning, then heard Vai playing a Uni and thought that was a pretty good idea.
