I did buy my first 7-string, an RG7620 from GC for cost ($400) which was cool though. [GC Rant] Honestly Guitar Center is the biggest pos store in the country, I used to work there too. Not only is it lame they don't stock ESP or Washburn or other cool brands despite the fact Musicians Friend does whos the same company, but the guitars they DO stock are usually horrible. I never see Jems or higher end RGs, all they have is low end rubbish. All they have is Gibsons and PRS which play like ass. [/end GC rant] |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For me it was Korn. I heard that song blind for the first time in 94' and it blew me the away. And when I started playing I wanted that sound. So it led me to 7's and so happy that it has. ![]() Too much blood in my alcohol system |

![]() | I was lucky enough that back in the late 90's rusty cooley did guest spots on a local guitar instructional show on the Christian TV station. I saw rusty on there with his "uv7bk". His lesson for the day was sweep arpeggios and he was using 7 string patterns. I had to go get a 7 string just to follow the doggone lesson! Then on top of that he played the intro to hillbilly militia at the end of the show. I was completely sold. Frome there I discovered Vai's music and that was just it. I found a used schecter 7 when they first started making production 7's. It was the only 7 in the guitar center. It played better then most of my 6's. So it came home and all the other 6's moved out. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, there is no particular reason for me. I have always liked the tone of a 7-string. Bands like Emperor, Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Dream Theater, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse and then later on Nevermore were bands that really got me more and more interested in 7-stringed guitars. The love of the 7-string tone grew on me for many years, and finally I just couldn't help myself anymore. I had to get one for myself. I never really wanted to tune down my guitars, but I always wanted more dynamic range. So basically the love of the 7-string tone and the need of more range were the reasons I got my 7-string. And I have no regrets The music I make is very varied, so the 7-string gave me a lot more range as far as songwriting is concerned. And I must admit, I love the way they look too ![]() 7-string all the way ![]() |
