My Agile Interceptor gets an overhaul

this has been long overdue. for as long as i've had this guitar (2, 2 1/2 years? ), i've never really given it a proper setup/ cleaning. it has always just been a live backup guitar for me (and a damn good one at that).

anyway, as some of you know, i picked up an Ibby 7620 a little while ago just so i could try out some more Bare Knuckles. although after setting it up and throwing some Dimarzios i had laying around (Blaze/ D Activator) i really have no complaints with how it sounds...

so, i though i'd try out the BKPs in the Interceptor, which i've never been 100% happy with tonewise, even with the same pickups i have in my 7620 ().

man, am i glad i did! the Cold Sweat 7 set sounds absolutely crushing in this guitar . these pickups REALLY brought this guitar up a few notches for me. i'll try and give a better review of them after i've spent some more time with them, but so far i'm just floored by how great these sound! i never thought i could be this happy with a basswood bodied guitar

in addition to the pickups, i also did some work on the trem, as most of you know, this original batch of Interceptors had an improperly cut trem cavity. basically it was cut too shallow and the springs would rub against the wood. my Dremel with a nice drum sanding bit took care of that (pic below) . i also put an OFR trem arm assembly on it as well as some new springs. all of these steps made a HUGE difference in the performance of this trem. while it's no OFR, it's definitely usable now.

i also spent quite a bit of time steel wooling the frets and cleaning/ oiling the fretboard, polishing etc...

anyway, pics!

Sweet!! Nothing like $300 of pickups in a $500 guitar.

$800 huh?

let's just say that for what i originally paid for this guitar, plus the cost of the pickups AND trem parts... it still puts me under $500
