Replacement Pickup Question
I have only been playing 7s consistently for the last year or so.. so I am a bit of a noob when it comes to good pickup combos for them. I have an Agile Hornet 7 with a maple neck and mahogany body. I need to get better pickups in it but I am having trouble deciding what to put in there. The bridge needs to be very strong in the metal department but flexible enough to handle some older classic rock sounds every once in a while without coming across as too harsh. For the neck I am looking for mainly good crisp clean tones- I always liked the way my PRS sounds for the neck, but I am not sure if this can be achieved on this guitar.
Right now I am leaning towards: Neck: Dimarzio Air Norton with a coil splitter on the neck vol pot. Bridge: Duncan Distortion Can anyone tell me if this combo would work, output wise, or give better suggestions in line with my goal for the tone? |

first thing's first:
what's wrong with the stock ones, tone-wise? what are they lacking? 2. what amp are you using? if you're using the exact same settings you use for your PRS as you do your Agile, then you're going to want to tweak the settings because they are different guitars.

I am using 2 different amps.
1) Fender Blues Deluxe (original) 2) Digitech GNX4 --> BBE482i-->solid state power amp--> 4X12 cab. The pickups just come across a a bit muddy or dull. Not totally sucky, but the harmonics are lacking and they are missing that certain "sparkle" or dimensionality of higher end pickups. |

I'd find a used seymour duncan JB-7 and '59-7, have a blast.
if you're wondering how that'd sound, bring your fender to your local schecter dealer and try out a C-7 blackjack
