Tuning down an octave?

You could always get a Fender bass VI or a Schecter Hellcat VI and tune it BEADGB...

Totally true. It's just a shame most of us couldn't really justify spending so much on such a specialist effect.

Yep. My Digitech GNX's produce a pretty decent single note octave effect, but forget about chords, and it's still not as clear as a bass. You get a warbling effect at times. It's neat, but not the best solution for that.

If you want to drop chords down, the only way I can think of doing it reliably would be to use something like the VG-88, where you can have a seperate effect for each string.

Yeah, I wish I could get more info on how the VG-88 handles alternate tunings - some people have said it's great, others said it sucked...annoying.

I use an 85 bass string my self. A small file will make your life easier if you end up going that route.

M'kay guys, I think I might have to leave this until I can take the time/cash to either get warmoth to build me a 30" 7 stringer or build one myself.

Just out of interest, how's the Schecter 007 Elite? I'm seriously considering getting it atm.
