Question about neck transplanting

I have a question, that I could not really get a solid 100% answer on through searching or on the Guitarbuilding forum that I often browse.

If I am trying to take a body and a neck, both originally from different models/make, but both were originally in the same scale length (use 25.5" as an example), can the two be bolted together, and achieve proper scale length? (also assume they are both 24 fret)

I understand that adjustments will have to be made to get everything right, but my main concern is the bridge placement.

Is it possible that one manufacturer may create a neck slightly longer than another, but compensate itself by placing the bridge further forward?

I would think that since both have the same # of frets, and scale length, that the spacing between frets would have to be the same, therefor making the neck length the same, the only chance of something not being right would lie in the length of fretboard after the last fret.

Am I over-analyzing this? Or is this a legitimate question?

If the scale lengths are the same, and they have the same number of frets, they sHOULD intonate correctly.

The bigger problem is whether or not the neck joint will fit into the neck pocket, and my guess is it won't. You lose nothing by trying, though.

if the neck pocket starts the same distance from the bridge on each guitar then it should work, but only one way to find out!
