If you're playing in dropped C, then it's only 1 step down from standard dropped D. In that case, you don't need to go too crazy with string gauges. If you're playing in dropped A, then that gets to be challenging on a 24.75", but a good sized string gauge would work.

Wait...you play in drop C? Then the other guitarist, the one with the 7 string, be tuning UP to C? If so, then why on earth would you need to have the low E be an A?

7 string (CGCFADG), 6 string (ACGCFA)? I'm not understanding really why you have the lowest string on yours tuned to A when you are playing in drop C...shouldn't the lowest string be tuned to C then?

~006+1 <---confused.

and i need to tune my guitar so that the next lowest string is C and the lowest is A.

Dropped A!!

It's a bit more difficult to do on that scale, but go with AT LEAST 12-52 and then set the guitar up in that tuning, with that gauge and it should work fine for you!!

I had a Les Paul 7-string and I used a 60 for the Low A. I'd recommend a 13-60 gauge.

Yep, use at least a 60 for that A.

A 60 is the gauge for an 'A' on my guitars, I'd probably say a 62 for the shorter scale.
