![]() | Two top woods? Interesting. I'm actually surprised I've never seen, heard or thought of this before, but having two top-wood choices on a guitar looks pretty cool... Looks like lacewood and quilted maple. ![]() |

![]() ![]() | It's a Conklin (at least, it certainly looks like one to me). He does that kind of funky stuff on lots of his guitars. You'll find custom builders doing really nifty wood combos like that. |

![]() | Yea, it's a Conklin. I was reading a review on Lundgren M7's and the guy in the picture happened to be one of the reviewers. I followed the link in his review and stumbled onto that pic. Haven't heard much about Conklin before, but that is an awesome guitar. |

![]() | I've never seen that before. With the right combinations you could get some great looking tops. Many other examples of this around? |

![]() | Man, they build some amazing sounding instruments, but both their guitars and basses are just too ridiculously bulky. The bodies are huge and the neck joints are weird and uncomfortable (on the bolt-ons). They all play and sound great if you like how big they are, but for me it's so uncomfortable as to be unplayable. They have some custom shapes for guitar that look better, but I've only played ones with their standard body shapes. I'm referring to the USA instruments when I say this. The melted top thing is really cool to look at, but I think I'd be too sheepish to play it in public. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've played the conklin 6 in this picture: Conklin Artist Profiles, and it is an amazing guitar. I have not partaken of any of the bottles in the background however ![]() ...that the play is the tragedy, "Man" http://www.fools-game.com/ |
