If I tune down to A...

Will it throw my intonation off?

I'm strongly considering tuning down but if there's more involved than setting the bridge and maybe a slight truss-rod adjustment I don't think I want to get into it. I HATE setting intonation on a floyd!!!

Well, if the guitar wasn't setup for A, then the intonation will be off. However, being that you are going from (assuming) B standard, to A standard, the intonation will not be *drastically* off, very hard to notice. I would only worry about intonating if you are a freak and can hear very subtle differences that most people would need to see a scope to know that it's off. I tuned my Hellraiser C7 to A standard and it sounds fine. I would have to sit down with a scope or a really good tuner to really see how far it is off, but my guess is that it's so minuscule it doesn't matter much.

It won't throw your intonation off really, I've done that many times. You may not need to do anything to be honest, very minor adjustments. Often I've recieved my 7s in standard tuning, and I just drop it down to Bb or A and no adjustments are needed whatsoever. I found you really only need to adjust the truss rod when changing string gauge, not tunings necessarily.

Well, I got it tuned down. The truss rod did need a little adjustment, I had a lot of buzz on the first fret afterwards and fixed it by a slight tweak of the truss rod.

The intonation got thrown off a little, not enough for me to worry about it. You can't hear it but you can see it on a tuner.

My white 7620 is set up in A but it is B dropped (AEADGBE) and I run 10s on it and had it set up.

Well, intonation isnt really to get rid of buzz, its to straighten the neck. If you get some buzz (which personally i dont mind as long as it doesnt come thru in the amp), then that can usually just be corrected with raising the action I'd think.

Plus, it's a good idea to give the guitar a day to adjust to a new tuning or strings, etc, before making any rod adjustments etc.

What gauge do you use for that F? I'm experimenting with mine, currently using a 0.058. Bear in mind my scale is 28 5/8".
