7 for Jazz and Fusion

Salut!

I am looking now for a 7-string that is good for Fusion, and Jazz. I am not talking about a semi acoustic though. A regular electric guitar, just with single coils or smooth/appropriate humbuckers, that is a 7 that not (only) majors in gain and high gain and shred and metal, but in clean sounds and smooth chording.

Any suggestions and discussions welcome!

The Dean Evo 7 can do some great clean/thick singing stuff. Also, a good coil tap on an Ibanes S7 will do it... and the Schecter C-7 Blackjack, 007 Elite, and 007 Blackjack will all do good mid-gain tones.

My personal recommendation would be to go for the Dean EVO 7 (unless you hate baseball bat necks), with the newer 007 Elite as the next contender. It's got a H-S pickup config that should serve you nicely in that application.

A Carvin 7 with the stock pups will do fusion/Jazz just fine.
those pickups suck for metal/hard rock , but for almost anything else they sound fine.

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

The old Schecter C7+ is a good one to search out for that stuff. They go pretty cheap on eBay.

I like the schecter omen extreme, it got alnico pickups and the neckpickup can give you a good lee ritnour tone.

Scali is a jewel in the rough
I think my S7320 does that stuff reasonably well:

Its pickups aren't mega-hot and not aimed at metal only, so the clean stuff and chords sound quite warm and smooth, emphasizing the qualities of the mahogany body.
