Strings - G Tuning Help

Hey Guys,

I'm no Jeff Loomis, actually that's a massive understatement, but I know my way around my fretboard enough to be able to write my own brutal stuff, so I'm happy.

I'm originally a bass player, 5 strings, was pretty good, so now I've stepped up to the big boy's world of guitar.

I'm playing around with tunings at the moment, and have used the G C G C G C E tuning for about 5 minutes & decided it's the tuning for me. My only problem is that the 2nd string is tuned up from B to C. This make the string VERY tight, so I've tuned it back down so I don't break it.

Can anybody suggest what gauge strings I should be using for this tuning? I'm using D'Addario Nickel Wound strings at the mo, they're .012 .016 .020 .032 .042 .054 .064.

They seem to be ok with the exception of the 2nd string. Could I just try putting a really light gauge on the 2nd string?

Thanks guys.

I'd suggest a .014, based on MindRiot's guide.
