Why not get a standard lefty RG370DXL or simliar and have a righty 7 string trem converted to a lefty
, it is possible to have it done, then get a righty RG 7 String neck, then fit it onto the lefty body and there you go, you gotta lefty 7 string with a floating trem AND a reversed neck , the neck cavity can always be widened if need be on a 6 string, for the 7 string neck

SWEEEEEEEEET
, I too have that plan for my next project cos I'm going to do the exact same thing myself, with my RG370DXL, but I'll also putting a 2x Classic White and 1x Gold swirl body finish, so that I can have it in my fave body color, but also with the minimal Gold swirl, to match with the gold hardware that I'm putting on it on mine and I'll just keep the logo for the hell of it, but when anyone asks if it's an ibanez custom, I'll just simply say, "Who's Ibanez?" lolAWESOME, I'll bet that you're drooling at that puppy , I wish that I could be there when you plug it in and let it rip on the amp , oh well, when I eventually get this guitar made, I'll post pics of it in here

Niice! I'll post on Wednesday how the finished product sounds, essentially I wanted this one to be a mean metal guitar with heavy tones for shred and a huge sound. The maple wood + EMG707s should give it a really bright tone and handle the lows pretty well (GCGCGCE) I tried on the Schecter 007 lackjack but its so thick on the low G that it muddies up the tone and doesn't vut through the way I need it to... ah well. here's to hoping! Keep me updated on your progress too, we could learn a lot! Sure
, it'll be cool to see your new weapon of mass distortion ![]() I have been seriously considering DiMarzio Blaze 7's pups for the conversion also, but I'm going to keep an open mind in the pups dept ![]() Sure, why not?, after all, if what we're working on, is new a way for all the other 7 stringless lefties out out there, to be able to have a lefty 7 w/ a floating trem, then posting the pics and info willl be pricelessly worth it ![]() I was looking at schecter guitars a while back, but I didn't go for it because i HATE guitars w/ a string-thru body and tone pro bridge set up, it's too restricted in terms of improvising purposes and a crappy set up, that is something that keeps being given to us lefties, just because the companies are too ....in greedy or lazy, to be bothered to order in the lefty 7 string floating trems and I say this because there are lefty 7 floating trems available to buy, BUT only if you can find a supplier that will take the time to order it for you, which is the reason why I'm just going to have a righty converted to a lefty trem instead hee hee hee

Why would you attempt to convert a 6 string body into a 7 string body, and then buy a right handed neck, when you could just sell the 6 string, and buy a custom cut body, or buy the custom cut body, and keep the 6 string as well?
I mean, the only thing you'd be keeping with the 6 string body, is the body itself though right? Aside from the pots, switch, etc. The pickups need to be replaced, same with the neck obviously, and the trem. And Willie, what do you mean by there are lefty 7 string trems available, but you need a supplier to order them for you? Because www.guitarpartsdepot.com will ship you a lefty 7 trem, with no middle man. POOF! |

Hey Scott
, how are ya? ![]() Ok 1st I've already tried guitarpartsdepot.com a whle back, I called them and I asked about the lefty 7 trem, giving them the product number and the person I spoke too, didn't have a clue about them, in fact I was asked to give a contact number, in which I was told, that they would call me back, in which they didn't and as far as I am concerned, I wasted my time with them, so they're off the menu ![]() 2nd. I can easily get a right handed trem converted, all it takes is to drill a hole on the other side of the trem plate, (at least on an Edge trem) and adjust the saddle for a lefty set up ![]() 3rd. I have spoken to a guitar tech today, who supplies alot of Ibanez and DiMarzio parts, repairs and custom builds, etc, and he can build a lefty UV no probs, but it will be with a fixed bridge and not a trem, which is what I asked for, but the option is there to convert a righty trem if I wish to do so ![]() 4th. Converting the RG370DXL to a 7 string, is less work and expence, than having a new guitar custom made because the main majority of parts are already there, the only work that needs to be done, like you said, is to widen the neck, trem and pick up cavities, get a 7 string RG neck and install a lefty or converted righty 7 trem , which is always an option, but not necessarily my decision , it's an option that is a possibile ![]() 5th. I'm already having to go for a custom cut body, for it to be a lefty UV , which allows me to convert the RG370DXL, to a JEM7VWHL, yep it can and will be done , in fact I'll be getting that done first, before I start the work on the UV because the more time I have, the better chance I have of finding a more local supplier to get a lefty 7 floating trem, than from GPD ![]() 6th. I'm basically just looking at all the different options that are there, at the moment, some great, some not so great, but still options nonetheless ![]() Anyways, I'll get a lefty 7 sorted out sometime soon anyways , I'm determined to get it done right too ![]() Right, I'm wasted, later guys , Peace

http://guitarpartsdepot.com/Merchant...ensed-Tremolos
Click that link, pick a color, add it to the cart and you're done. Just need to pay and they'll send it out to you. No need to talk to anyone on the phone about it. But yeah, I know it isn't a problem to convert a right handed ibanez trem. I've done it myself on my first 7 string. But you will still need a left handed 7 string nut, and you can't just convert a right handed one in this case. http://guitarpartsdepot.com/Merchant...e=Locking-Nuts GPD has those aswell. These will work fine. They are the same dimensions as a UVs locking nut, just left handed. What type of right handed neck are you planning on using? An AANJ neck or a Standard neck joint neck? I know some guys over at jemsite say that attaching a right handed aanj neck onto a left handed aanj pocket will work, but I wouldn't do it. It'd be uncomfortable, and the screw holes wouldn't match up. I still wouldn't convert a 6 string body in the first place. Yeah, in the end it might work, but it wont be pretty, and it isn't really convenient. When you widen the trem cavity, you'll also have to fill in the stud holes and redrill for those. I just wouldn't see the point in ruining a perfectly good 6 string, just for the sake of making a 7 string body, when there are many people out there who will make a 7 string body with a trem cavity for you. Now, it's a little hard to follow you post, but if you decide to convert the 370 into a jem, then by all means, go ahead. Just don't try converting it into a 7 string. POOF! |

Those are right handed necks with All Access Neck Joints (AANJ) though. So you can't properly fit that onto a left handed body. Unless you got a custom body cut, with a reverse neck pocket, so that it'd be a left handed body, with a right handed neck pocket.
