Personally I'd rather just tape the B string down and just play the 7 like a 6, drop D and everything. Has anyone done that? In a live situation I mean.

suicidalmoose is on a distinguished road
Just realised I was about to say exactly what FoxZero said. Just ignore the 7 the string? Wouldn't be that difficult. And then piss your guitarist off when you work in a harmony with the 7th string and make the song that much more brutal.

I am surrounded by 6 strings all day and i am expected to play them and show them off for people. This can be frustrating when you never play a 6 and no longer know what to do rather than cheesy rock pentatonics :p I def never ever see myself buying another 6 string really... unless its an acoustic

shupe13 will become famous soon enough
As the OP for this thread, KOTEX & KRONPOX both hit it on the head. Not being able to play a 6er anymore was a figure of speach. It did take a minute to get myself straight. The 6er felt very odd. It felt like half the guitar was missing. I am also one who is generally only comfortable playing my own guitars.

I have to say I am quite proud of the reaction I got from a few you guys.

GOOOZE FRABA GOOOZE FRABA

I don't know if I'll buy another 6er for awhile. An 8... Hell yes!

How Heavy is Too Heavy?

I am very rude.

Nah find a seven string acoustic. I already tune low for clean mellow stuff so that'd be a great investment for myself. I'd love to have one so I could put a capo on it to play in C standard but not lose my range ya know?

Esp Griffyn is just really niceEsp Griffyn is just really nice
I have the problem of 6ers feeling like toys. My Ibanez guitars dont have humongous necks, and yet 6ers feel like lollipop sticks to me now. I find I fall off the fretboard and have to resort to just improvising licks, since all the learned stuff I have pretty much uses the B string, since most of my favourites artists, play below D, and I write most of my stuff using the B or F# string.
