7 string floyd Rose problem

Alright so i was locking my nut on my guitar and the bolts got all stripped from tightening and it won't hold it down anymore. Only one of the 4 bolts was able to tighten fully. Basically i could turn all i want and nothing will happen to the other bolts. Its weird because this has never happened with my previous floyd rose system and this is the first time i touch the nut on this new guitar.

What should i do? Anyone else have this problem?

You'll need a new nut and you need to learn some mechanical sympathy.

If you're doing this with an allan key, hold onto the shortest part of the key. Smaller arm means less leverage means less torque which means you won't break it again.

Suck to be you though, 7 string nuts start at about $30 and work up FAST. If its an OFR, well...good luck.

Ya its an OFR, see thats the thing i don't get though, i had one on my other guitar which i've had since fall 2006 and i've never had this problem all of a sudden, i barely even tighten it and it strips....

If its just the bolts, go buy some bolts. If its the nut, well, uhhh. That sucks

If you're not torquing down any harder than usual, maybe you got some shitty nuts. The ones on my loomis hold just as tight as any other, and its OFR.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

shit. so its either the bolts, or the base.
can you unscrew them?

I know james (sevendyingtrees) has one (just a base) for sale, which would save that from being a disaster, and the bolts can be easily bought online

I can unscrew the bolts, i just can't screw them tight to the nut to lock it.

well unscrew and remove them. Look at the bolts to see if the bolts themselves are stripped, or if the tap inside of the baseplate of the nut is stripped. buying new bolts wont do you much good if the ones you have are fine and the base is stripped. likewise with getting that base.
