I thought KE7 might have meant "Kelly 7", but I put KE7 into google and got no results so I can only assume you are referring to the Ibanez K-7. It was produced, I believe, between 2003 and 2006, and was discontinued when Head left Korn, Munkey was given new models and the shared Head / Munkey K-7 was scrapped. That said, even though it was a shared signature model, it was still unofficially split between them, since if they were ever seen playing K-7s and not their Ibanez customs, Head was playing the blue one and Munky was playing the grey.

The import Jackson 7 strings were pretty patchy from what I understand, some were awesome others were absolute shit, and not in a great ratio.

I'd kill for a Kelly 7. Stars or otherwise, but I've heard much scepticism as to whether they are good enough guitars in the first place to start modding.

Well, the answer to this is pretty obvious, don't you think?
Like why Fender keeps coming with 87682 Strats models each year?

Because they sell.

you can still get Jackson Stars 7-strings in V, Soloist, and Kelley shapes. I understand they even have a custom shop. These aren't the models you are talking about, they are much higher quality.

Jackson Stars is Japan Market Only

Jackson Stars stopped taking custom and semi-custom last October, unfortunately, and their 7 string guitars were limited runs rather than standard models. They were quite different to the rest-of-the-world 7s: neck thru, (stripped) ebony boards, duncans...

Here's my custom Jackson Stars KE7:

Is that ebony? That looks like it is in the J1 line, as opposed to the J2 line that (formerly) my Soloist was in. That line is supposedly at the level of the USA select stuff, while the J2 line is pretty much the same as the Japanese import Jacksons we get CONUS.
