for years i never had gas for an 7, i though just tune down, then i got a ibanez 7 and things changed from there. the neck feels right, i cant stand playing 6ers anymore, i have the 7 tunned to standerd e and ive never looked back. i also want to sell my ex-love jackson soloist because of this. she could never satisfy me like a 7.

Since I started back at uni I've had too many conversations with people about guitars, they've asked what I play. I've said a 7 string and they just don't get it.

It's been really shocking, it's not been saying they couldn't play it, or that they don't understand it.. more like "What do you need a 7th string for, it's just stupid, you don't need a seven string."

Since then, the response has been mostly positive or just interest. Most of my recent responses fall more along those lines.

Which is why I kinda thought it'd be awesome to have the Xiphos 27" as well.

I don't really get what's so amazing about an x-shaped guitar, but okay.

No one has really given me shit about it, Jazz players really seem to like it other people have been indifferent.

The only thing I've heard that I thought was dumb was something to the tune of "7 strings are retarded, you can just tune a 6 string down to B." I just responded "Um... I use all of the strings..."

If I have it a long I'll just show people chords, riffs, and such I play that you can't really do on a 6 string. There is no real way to argue with that.

I honestly don't know if there was a TRUE hatred for seven strings...sure, around here where 7s are the topic at hand, you might've gotten the few jerkoffs that cared enough to sign up and express their views, but other than that I think that seven strings haven't caught much crap at all.

Eight strings, on the other hand.

I've had people that has gotten really offended and straight out mad when they saw my 7-string. And especially when I started talking about getting a baritone neck for it.

I will never understand how you can get offended by another persons guitar, but apparently you can, hahahaha.
