7 string guitars good for technical death?

I'm trying to raise the money to break my 7 string virginity. Can anyone recommend a 7 string guitar that would get a brutal sound, yet be articulate enough to do technical stuff? I also dig a good clean sound as well.

I'm going to Iowa for an award. Then I'm appearing at Carnegie Hall, it's sold out. Then I'm sailing to France to be honored by the French government. I'd give it all up for one erection. — Groucho Marx

price range, neck-preference, anything you hate in guitars, like floyd etc etc.

not too fussed about neck widths and stuff, tho I'm more experienced with ibanez, so quite a thin neck i guess. 24 frets is the only essential thing really. I would quite like a floyd, but i wouldn't mind a fixed bridge. For price range, nothing too ridiculous (nothing way over £1000).

oh, and passive pups

all of those qualities will come more from whatever amp, speakers and pickups you're using.

just try out some different guitars and find the one that plays and feels best to you.

Or if you're not much a basswood person but still want ibanez, Xiphos or Apex. Both would be superior sounding options.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

The apex2 is dirt cheap in the UK, I cast a vote on that guitar too.
