New Guitar Dilemna

So I've got a decision to make here really soon. Either I keep my original track and pre-order the Agile 8 string, or order a Gary Kramer F1 7 string. Pics of the Kramer in question:

I'm just trying to figure out if I'd ever even get the use out of 36 frets or not. The whole design intrigues me, but I just don't know if I ever got rid of it if I'd get screwed on the resale (probably would). I'll only have a 72 hour approval period if I do decide to order it. Whatchu guys think? Oh, and it's only a couple hundred bucks difference between the two.

Knife to the eye!!

those kramers look insanely comfortable, and pretty cool imo. I personally wouldnt use the 36 frets, but i could use up to 27 or so comfortably, and that thing is just disgustingly awful. Whats gonna help you with what you want to do more, the frets/comfort, or the 8 string?

See...there in lies the rub. I really would like to try out an 8 string to see if it would add another dimension to my playing, but the Kramer could add to it as well. So they're running neck and neck at the moment.

Or I may just say screw it all, order a Bloody Murder to put in front of my VHT, and be done for a while. Just try and let the GAS pains subside.

Seriously, just go with the 8 string. Having an 8 string is like the benefits of moving to a 7 from a 6 allover again. Remember how good all those extra notes at the bottom, and the greater range in single positions felt when you were no longer limited like you were on a 6? Getting an 8 is like that feeling all over again. They really are truly bloody great!

Besides, that 7 looks like some crappy bannana contraption, and when was the last time you saw people actually able to play the upper register? Michael Manring has a 36 "fret" bass (although not really since its fretless) but even he admits that other than sliding up to single notes, the upper register gets little to no use, since even on a bass it's just too fiddly to actually play.

I find that yellow thing hideous. Looks like some 4 year old got ahold of a jigsaw and went nuts. 8 string all the way.

I'd go for the 8 string personally. I don't think I'd be able to use those extra frets on the Kramer. They start to get too little to even tap on. Which sort of takes away from even having them.

You say it's only a few 100 difference...how much is this Kramer?

Thanks for all the replies fellas! I think I've pretty much decided on the 8 now. The more I thought about it, and with all the responses, I just don't think I'd ever use the higher register.

So I very much appreciate the comments!

I'm pretty sure I could. I have skinny fingers and I'm used to guitars with poor high-fret access. It's not much different than reaching above the 12th fret on a no-cut classical guitar.

I like it. And besides, everyone and their grandmother plays superstrats nowadays. Unique shapes all the way.

Kramer i think. the agile will just be the same as the ESP 8 string and the Ibanez etc. Kramer looks more unique and probably sounds better too

how will the Agile 8 be the same as the Ibanez 8?

Ibanez : basswood body, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood f/b, 27" scale, $1,500

Agile : mahogany body, neck thru 5 piece maple/ walnut neck, 28.625" scale, $650 - $700?

how do you know what the Agile will be like? it hasn't even been made yet
