Unhappy LTD H-207 stock pickups :(

I just bought a LTD H-207 for $150 yesterday :P (pretty sick bargain!)
But unlike many online reviewers, i think that the stock (Duncan designed) bridge is really weak and really lacks output. Has anyone else experienced this issue with this guitar?

I ordered a D Activator 7 for the bridge last night, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with that pickup.

Pickups, Electronics & General Tech

There are tons of threads in the above forum regarding pickups including the DA7. Also the search on the top right of the page has improved a lot recently since it now uses Google to search the website.

I had the same exact pickup in my Schecter Gryphon 7 (which is a similar guitar to yours) so I feel your pain. And yeah, the Duncan Designed had no power whatsoever, I even pulled it up as high as I possibly could get it to the strings. I had to add a bit of gain to compensate. They had a wonderful clean tone though!

You should be much happier with the DA7, although i've never used one personally, they rocked in a 6 string ibanez I played a few times.

In any language that you learn to speak -- love is twisted and defined as weak

TheMissing's GAScon status: GAScon 3... New geetar... But now I need to find a new pickup...

I replaced the stock DD with a Dimarzio Blaze Custom in mine and like it a whole lot better.

Thanks guys, I just needed some affirmation that the guitar could still sound good after it proved exactly the opposite of the uplifting reviews that convinced me to get one.

Well, for some people they're good, but they're not a really ballsy pickup. If you need some tight, gainy pickups, the Duncan Designed JB is definitely not the answer.

Be sure to post about how you like the DA7 when you get it! Clips too if you can!

If not, you can always call DiMarzio and swap them for something different.

Will do!
I've gone through at least 10 dimarzios in the last year and I always forget about that return policy. Thank for the reminder!
