Actually, the price got raised to $2999. HOWEVER, now it's made in the USA instead of Japan, which hopefully = a better instrument.

Hardly. It's still an alder bolt-on with a shitty trem and EMGs. To pay ~ $1000 above custom shop prices for a cheesy production model is just outrageous. I can't imagine why anyone in the world would want to buy one of these things. There are much better guitars out there for far less money.
