if you're going over $2K and you know what you want in a guitar, just go custom.

there is little to no point in going anything else at that price point, unless you really cant wait.

3 cheers for free gear!

me too. I look forwards to the day (in 2009) my B7 gets in and I can just sit there looking at it all day.

The only problem is you won't get a blackmachine in the $2-3k range, and if you do, it would be the lower line that is still totally hand made but has no options, rosewood fretboard, and maple neck instead of all the cool stuff the B7 has.

The EBMM even though it is a production guitar has one thing you can't get on any custom - a totally kickass piezo bridge that is still the most comfortable bridge I've ever played on and is super stable. It also has the best neck EVAR, still to this day I have yet to touch a guitar as good as the JP7 was.

The one guitar I would certainly not be looking at in this kind of price range (or $1000 and up, for that matter) is an Ibanez.

just a personal opinion, the parker style aswell, i dont like it where the strings can be seen through the back. i just like things a bit more clean than that. im a fan of Ibanez, Jackson, ESP headstocks anyway so you can probably see why it doesnt appeal. + i dont like reverse headstocks (except the George lynch hockey)

Ok, well as much as Blackmachine undoubtedly kick ass...unless you want to be waiting until about 2010 for the guitar, i'd grab a BFR Petrucci!

BFRs aren't sextastic tbh. My friend has 2 (paying one off still though...) and i've tried the 6er. Looks great, really regal, but playing it.... sure it was good, it just wasn't spectacular. Worth it? I dunno, pitting a BFR against a Blackmachine, i'd wait it out, especially if you have an ok guit to tinkle with already.

Oh well, at least it smelt really nice.

Out of al of those, the Blackmachine pisses on them.

But I fucking love Petrucci models. I think the BFR is the greatest production 7 ever produced, at least for my tastes.
