To anyswer the original poster's question, that's not an apples-to-apples comparison. Ibanez is a massive scale production producer, although their top of the line stuff is quite nice. EBMM is a small scale production company. Blackmachine is a no-holds-barred custom shop. The first two are arguably comparable; the third is not.

I would. EBMM makes stellar guitars, and are not mass produced on an assembly line. I'd put them up there with USA Jacksons and real ESPs.

are Sub1s imports? I've played 1 axis and it was pretty damn nice, but 4 EBMMs total and only 1 was good, 3 were Sub1s though

I dunno, I never played a Sub1. I have played a Luke, Axis, JP7, Morse, and several basses, and they are all awesome.

Actually Blackmachine is a many-holds-barred custom shop. There are a lot of things you can ask Doug to do and hell say no.

for me personally, once i get into the $2000-$3000 range. ANY production model guitar is out of the question. the EBMM would be a no go for me.

Blackmachine would get my vote for that reason alone.
