As Bobby asked, how does the coil tap sound? 7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels. http://www.mnemic.com/board/images/smilies/sam666.gif http://www.myspace.com/psyclosis Psyclosis page http://www.myspace.com/texamanian My page |

(And technically, on the 707TW, it's actually two completely separate pickups under that cover.) A coil "tap" is a wire that's split off the coil(s) partway through the windings, so you can get a thinner, quieter, brighter "underwound" sound by cutting a part of the windings out of the circuit. Single coils and humbuckers can be "tapped". A coil "split" can only be done on a humbucker, and it involves cutting one of the coils out of the circuit. On the EMG TW models, they actually put two pickups under the cover (in the case of the 707TW, it's a 7-string version of the 85 and a 7-string version of the SA) and the "coil split" switches between the two. This space intentionally left blank. |
