![]() ![]() | Jackson DX-7? ![]() Are these any good? I couldn't find any reviews or info on them when I searched the site (forum searches never really work for me ). They're made out of alder right? What's a good price for a nice one (like that red one)? I have GAS for a decent cheap hardtail 7 and reverse headstocks= so it seems like a good choice. |

![]() | Avoid the Indian ones, I think the DX series were made in India and Korea and they are meant to be junk. The DK series were made in Japan and are of a significantly higher quality. Pop over to the Jackson Charvel forum (Jackson Charvel Forum - A Jackson and Charvel guitars fan site!) for advice on price, I can only help you on UK prices and they are always ridiculous when compared to US (cheaper) prices. |

As a former owner, I can tell you they're not even especially good for firewood. ![]() The DK7 is a different beast. Much higher quality, although I was never overly impressed with them... |

![]() | I have the blue flamed top DK7 as a back-up guitar. In my opinion, it serves as a solid back up guitar. However, it needed some work out of the box (I purchased new) in order to enhance the sound and playability. Here's what I did: 1. Complete fret re-dress 2. Added Seymour Duncan Invader bridge pickup 3. Set action, including truss rod adjustment and minor bridge adjustments After this, the action is good with minimal buzz and the Invader gives the guitar a solid punch. Not muddy like some feedback I've read. It's fairly bright with good harmonics. If you're looking for a solid guitar right out of the box, I wouldn't recommend the DK7. However, if you're willing to invest some time and put a little $$ into it, it may be worth it. Moreover, I plan on upgrading the nut to a graph-tech. The stock nut is cheap plastic. This $10 investment will go a long way. Good luck. |
