Bolt on / neck-through hybrid?

Before you ask what program i used to draw that, i just want to say that its freehand
but just kind of a strange question i had. As you can see, in the pic i drew a regualar bolt on guitar from the back, how come no one has tryed to do the other method i tryed? Basically i thought the neck could come with the neck through peice, then route out a channel down the body, then bolt the whole neck through into the routed slot? It would seem that you could get the tone and feel of a neck through, but the advantages of the bolt on like dissassembly for traveling, because thats the only advantage *ahem* stitch
to a luither it might seem like a stupid idea, but i was just curious

that's exactly what I'm doing for a fanned fret 8 string for all shall perish.. but a 8" extension.

heh.. 8" extension..

and there will be a plate that slips into a groove to cover the bolts... all finished in black satin... be just like the ESP bolt-through but without showing the bolts, and yet still the option to access them if need be. Not a stupid idea 7 Strings, IMO.

Have you checked B.C. Rich's Invisibolt?
I don't know exactly how it works, but looks odd enough...

haven't done it before, just modeled it on solidworks 3D. Not quite as precise as your design software, but it fit together pretty nicely.

Just have to be careful about bolt placement.
