That offset bridge pickup just irritates me.

if normal sized blackouts or passives were used, that pickup wouldn't need to be offset to accomodate the cutaway. EMGs FTL

He didn't use EMG's on shred guitar manifesto.
His custom, if you noticed, was origionally routed for a single coil (im guessing a blaze middle).

I think it was a situation where EMG said 'hey, we'll give you an endorsement if you want" and he took it.

now he's got one from SD.

Well, the idea would make sense if it was actually the other way around, with the bass strings side closer to the bridge. Maybe the actual rusty cooley model will now have a regular neck routing with some phase 1s in it.
