![]() ![]() ![]() | Played an XPT707 today... ... and all I have to say is, 'wow.' It's hard to believe this came from the same company that made the AX7221. I know, I know, Ibanez has made some decent 7-strings at times, but as far as I'm aware, they all came from the USA/JPN shops... the XPT707 is MIK, right? Setup was perfect out of the box, and 6 strings of the guitar were actually in tune too (what is it with Ibanez and the high-e? always seems to be out). I found the neck to be extremely comfortable, especially considering I normally avoid glossy painted necks like the plague. It felt like closest to a glossy version of the RG1527, which, IMHO, is the nicest Ibanez neck I've played. Must say, I love volutes too. Not bad at all for what I believe is Ibanez's first production neck-thru 7-string (right?). Seems they got this one nearly perfect... I'll even excuse the fact that they were accidentally looking at a Mike Mushok schematic when they put the bridge on instead of the actual Xiphos schematic. Has this been everyone else's experience with the XPT707 as well? Or did I just happen upon the 1/1000 that came out right? Btw, this is the actual guitar I played: IBANEZ XPT707FX Xiphos 7-String w/FREE HARDSHELL - eBay (item 160220186208 end time Apr-17-08 14:21:43 PDT) ... I have the feeling that AES-RS7 will be leaving my company pretty quickly after it arrives. |

It's by far the finest Ibanez I've ever owned, and that includes Prestige, J-Custom, and Universe models I've owned. It just sounds and plays so fucking good, no flaws whatsoever. I bought mine from DCGL and it was setup perfectly. I haven't been able to put it down ever since I bought it. ![]() Ibanez should make more mahogany bodied neck-thru 7s (in this case it has a walnut/maple neck). It's made in Indonesia. |

![]() | I'm probably gona order one of these tomorrow. Thing's a beauty. Wish they had a trem tho, and EMG's and a 26.5" scale (why am I complaining....all I really know is a 25.5 anyway. :P) . I'd be 100% sold then. |

![]() It's very easy to nitpick and make a big deal over things while looking at guitars on the Internet, but usually once you have it in front of you in real life most of those things just fade away. As long as it plays/sounds great at least ![]() ![]() | |
