K7 Tuning

Hey everybody,
I'm a rookie here. I spent my time the last 10 years with a Gibson Standard and I love it but I want to discover the universe of 7stringers
Does anybody know if it's possible to change the tuning of the K7? As it is tuned to ADADG...change it to BEADG...
Well it should work if one switches to the hardtail system, but is it also possible with the original bridge?

Papa Shank is a jewel in the rough
You can pretty much tune it to whatever you like aslong as you use appropriate string gauges. A standard to B standard is definatly no problem.

And no, you won't have to do anything to the bridge other than maybe tweak it for a better action.

^As Papa says, although I'll add that you'll need to blalance the bridge to stop you ending up with it at a really steep angle. What you'll have to do is adjust the tension of the springs in the back of the guitar by screwing the retaining claw in or out as necessary.

The trick is to go through a cycle of tuning, spring adjustment & re-tuning until the bridge is level. There should be a small oblong on metal visible through the side of the trem which is the end of the knife edge. They're replaceable, that's why you can see it. That or the bottom of the trem plate should be parallel with the top of the guitar. The top of the trem is slightly angled. This will take a while, but will ensure you get correct intonation.

Don't get frustrated the first time you try to change the tuning on the floating bridge.

Effectively I had to "re-"balance the bridge to get it right since the bridge was way to tense and uplifted when I tried to just tune the strings. Now I got a killer guitar and sound with a .60B string for the seventh and .52-.10 for the other strings.
Like many people I'm neither a Kornfan nor do I especially like the guitarlogo, but the neck is soft as silk and really thin (well which guitar isn't compared to a Gibson...) and the sound's really massive!
Thank you guys for your replies. This site is a little jewel!!

well, factory, its ADGCFAD... If you just got it, and want it in standard, you might get some slightly lighter strings and tune it up. But as stated, you'll have to re-adjust the trem

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

that guy is headed in the right direction.
do what me and ron do dude , when you change strings put playing cards between the body of the guitar and the bottom of the bridge (where the fine tuners are) and get the bridge just shy of where you want it and adjust the springs and tune till the cards fall out (im sorry if i dont make sense i suck at explaining things)

smokey the bear is way more intense in person

That is not a bad way of doing it! Do you use regular playing cards or do you cut them down?
