While the Caparison Dellinger 7 is my dream guitar, I would say there are alot of options before grabbing one up. Last time I check, it was $3k from a east coast dealer, but the KxK is equivilent to the Caparison in the fact that they are Standard models from a custom shop. I cant imagine anything going wrong with either choice.

But in my opinion, for anything over $1000, I will need to be happy with the build, playability, and look/feel of it. So while the board can show you doors, your hand/heart is going to have to tell you which one.

Conklins are pretty sweet, as well.

You could get a custom shop 7-string made to your specs from Michael Sherman, Bernie Rico Jr, KxK, etc for what the production model Dellinger 7 goes for. Caparisons are nice but the price/quality ratio is rather poor. IMO if the Dellinger was more like $1299-1499 it would be a good deal. At $2500 or whatever they go for here? No way, it's just a bolt-on rosewood board maple neck etc. Really just about the same thing as your old K7 which you can get used for $750.

Good point. The K7 was superb to me only sold it because it was an emergency situation. Guess I'll be on the lookout for a used one on the net may see about finding one in the Blade Grey this time.

Ah, the suffering. The sweet suffering.

+1. It's a sweet a guitar for $1200-$1500 or so, but anything more than that is just ridiculous.

Why would you buy a guitar over another based upon its rarity and appearance when the intent is to play it?
cause more people on here say that they have KxK's than they do caparisons and also more people know the name more. KxK probably put out more guitars a year than caparison do (600 i think ????????)

Its not just aesthetic value but it plays awsome too.

btw dude why did you sell your K7???

You have no clue what you're talking about. Caparisons come off an assembly line style shop, every KxK is hand built by Rob himself. I would be surprised if Rob puts out more than 12-24 guitars a year. The reason there are a lot of them on here is that Rob ran a special on Sii-7s at the end of 2006 and 12 of us ordered them. The last 4 are in the finishing stages now.

Mine (the blue marble with the Eye of Thoth) took 11 months and was the second build of that group of twelve.
