Lack of Motivation??

Hey all
I need some help ... I've heard of writer's block, but I've had it for about 3 months now. I just got all sorts of lovely things in that timeframe such as my pod x3 live and my c7 hellraiser, yet still i have no motivation (?) and/or lack of ideas. Anyone have any ideas on how to get that "spark" again? I miss playing, but everytime i pick up the guitar i just draw a blank, noodle around a bit, and set it down. i WANT to get back into playing...this has never happened in the 7-8 years of me playing...sigh. I never thought the one thing that made me so happy could make me so depressed. I know this is a different thread than the usual (i should probably go to a psych forum and get evaluated ), but I could use any and all suggestions to get me out of my slump. thanks everyone...

I think this happens to everyone every so often. Are you playing in a band? How I always got out of a rut I would try to play different styles of music with different people that I normally played with. That always seemed to inspire me. Change is always a good thing.
Maybe your just getting bored playing the same tunes. Learn something totally new!

I know that feeling all to well.
Try taking a break from playing for a couple of days. It might be hard to do but it's worth it. Then after a few days, when you pick up your guitar again, play some covers and learn a couple of new songs. Don't try to write anything, just have fun. That works for me and puts me back into the zone big time.
It might work for you too.

I think my brain sometimes just wants to mess with me and stop all the creativeness when I'm writing so I take that break and then hit it with some 80's metal songs! Then my brain just surrenders to the awesomeness of it all and releases the creative juices once again.

Unfortunately I'm not in a band...it's kind of hard playing with anybody in the Middle East There's not really anybody here to play and whoever said "music is a universal language" lied...have you ever tried playing with a Bahraini?? Once you get past the language barrier, you have this thing called completely different tastes in instrument/music choice. Yeah I play mehtulz, but I listen to all sorts of music... I have this completely open palette of freedom, but nothing comes to mind. I draw a blank everytime...it sucks. I tried putting the guitar down for a week (after going through withdrawls mind you), but still nothing...sigh

thanks for the input and thanks for the kind words sir It's always nice to bask in compliments lol...I know what you mean about forcing it...i can't accomplish anything when i say "i'm going to make something up today". I do much better when it comes naturally...like i've had this one little riff you can hear on my soundclick page (SoundClick artist: Friend For A Foe - If you love metal/hardcore/progressive, then you're sure to have a joygasm. Brutal, melodic, and yet) called "The Sky and The Fall" and I was all about it, then all of a sudden, BAM, i have no idea what to do with it...

I actually bought some books about creativity and writers block and that helped me a lot.

Yeah I guess they fall under self-help books, some where under the business section but it's pretty much the same idea.
