Elijah will become famous soon enough
So who has tried the apex 2?

anyone try this one? i'm real interested in it but have no clue how it plays and whatnot. it seems really nice for the price, but i'm not to sure. i really don't want to start buying more guitars. i'd like to start saving up for a bigger better guitar, but i've been GASin for a 7 string thru, and i'm pretty happy with ibanez right now, so i'm gona start needin those opinions again!

I have yet to actually play one myself, but from what I have heard from people that have played them, they say the neck feels really similar to an RG7321 neck. Of course you have your differences to set the Apex2 and the 7321 apart...

APEX2:

Mahogany Body
TOM bridge
PAF7 pickups.

RG7321:

Basswood body
Hardtail bridge
AH7 (i believe thats what they are, they suck anyway so it dont matter) pickups.

I've tried it and dislike it. I mainly dislike it because i'm not a fan of the PAF7s. I mean, in the neck they're okay, but I just don't get along with it in the bridge. It's a well-built instrument though. Fretwork was quite good and the body was comfortable enough. As for the neck, well, it was thicker, smaller with more square shoulders compared to an RG1527 but plenty playable enough. Bridge felt solid enough (personally not a big TOM fan though) and whilst the rosewood wasn't the most attractive I've seen, dye can always solve it IMO.

If you like the PAF7s in it and you like TOMs, go for it. The construction and feel is solid enough mate. If you want other options, you can try those Agile Septors perhaps or save up a bit and get a Loomis TOM.

I would just like to point out that the RG7321 is string-through.

I played it unplugged and really enjoyed it! Smooth flat neck that played like never before. I'd get one if I had the cash

Oh.

Just to give a alternate opinion on the same topic, I own an Apex 2, and the sound of the PAF7 in the bridge is one of the main reasons I love the guitar so much. Maybe it's the different equipment we're playing through, or maybe just different tastes, but I think that PAF7 in the bridge kicks some serious ass. \m/
