Hellraiser 7FR pissing me off

Is it me or do others find this guitar difficult to play? I don't know if it's my fingers (too short? ), the fact that I suck, or what.

I play the thing and my hand is in pain. I can't play the stuff I write.

Then I go and pick up my xiphos and the pain is gone and I realize all the practice with the baseball bat neck did actually help, but not on the one that I would like to play it on, the schecter. BTW, I don't know shit about setting up guitars. I just got back into metal a few months ago after playing banjo for 6 years. Before that it was heavy metal for about 12 years, just to give you a little background. My action at the 12th fret 7th string from tip of fret to bottom of 7th string looks to be about 3/32. It can't really go any lower as it buzzes slighty as it is.

I tend to think it's the scale of the neck. The 1st 4 frets seem much further apart than on Ibanez guitars.

Sell it or give it more time? I love the sound of guitar but I really don't enjoy playing it much.

WTF?

Kevin

GUESS WHAT I'VE GOT? Fitzgibbons 5000 ultra synapse accellerator which allows me to think faster than the masses and phase in and out of the matrix at will.

I think that playing different neck shapes works different muscle groups and that's why some people say that playing a Schecter makes their hand cramp up whilst others claim that playing an Ibanez makes their hands cramp.

dunno bout the HR7FR, but i feel the regular HR and my loomis are the easiest to play, best sounding guitars i've owned.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Strange. Most people are opposite, like me. Ibanez necks cramp me terribly.

Have you tried stretching your hands at all? To losten them up?

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

My hand gets really tired when I play a five string fender bass, but I can play a six string Ibanez SR or Dean Edge for hours.

As far as guitars go, I have some fatigue when I play the razor-thin Ibanez necks, but not so much with the regular ones.

SamSam will become famous soon enough
I find the ibbys too flat also. I cant play anywhere near as well on my rg6 as on my ltd viper and that also sounds ten times as good!

if they were a little more rounded the ibby necks would be lovely then again I find the k7 neck very comfy but not as close as my lovely round viper

hey, if you're not feeling the guitar, i'd say sell it.

the necks on the guitars in my collection go from one extreme to the other. i don't have problems with my hand cramping up. i guess i just find the most comfortable hand positioning for myself with each neck .

yeah I stretch my hand, but it doesn't make my frign piny any longer

My pinky is 2 1/4 inches from the web in between it and my middle finger , my middle finger is 3"

Do I just have short fingers?

I also can't seem to get that classical position down pat and keep wanting to rest my thumb on the 7th string side of the neck. Man playing music now, I'm like WTF?

I use to think I was the shit when I could play Exodus songs note for note. Things have progressed quite a bit since. So I'm really pressuring the fuck out of myself to get up to speed and probably that's the main problem here; too much playing.

Edroz's right and it's just the same for me.
No matter how much you like the sound of it, maybe the Hellraiser is just not for you. It's sad, but i wouldn't fight it... Did you try the guitar before buying it?
