DiMarzio Evolution or ToneZone?

looks like Evolution is like Diet ToneZone. and the Tonezone 7 is not a direct copy of the ToneZone 6 so I can't even judge based on my Tonezone in my strat... what do you guys think?

I'd go with the TZ personally. I've played a handful of evolutions (though Evo owners swear by them) and to my ear, the TZ is just warmer up and down the board while the Evo seems to be more of a straight metal pickup.

in which guitar?

I'd hardly call an Evo a "TZ on a diet..." It's definitely lighter on the lower mids, but it's a much more powerful pickup, and it KILLS in mahogany.

Ive heard the Evo can be a little brittle in basswood, but haven't yet tried it there myself. And, naturally, it works well in alder, too. The TZ, meanwhile, to my ears blows as a bridge pickup in mahogany (very les paul-ish, muted in the highs, but somehow still with this prescense buzz) but sounds reasonably good in my 7620. Still not 100% sold on it, but it;s a solid pickup.

Clarification: I've only heard both in 7620's.

Hmmmm I just got one of those Epiphone 7 string les paul's and I'm trying to figure out what to put in it for a bridge PU. I love the tone of a les paul. That's why I got the git in the 1st place, so EMG's are out. I'm thinking about the TZ7. Any thoughts..........?

I'd say Tonezone7. It's just better all around.

I prefer the Evo7, though it sounds better to me tuned down a half step, than in standard. ^_^

Depends on what you plan to use the low B for, and what type of music you're playing. I've found a lot of high mids and gain sounds better for fast gallop riffs, over the bass response of a Tone Zone. Of course, I don't play any blues or anything, so I'm a bit single-minded here. lol

How does the Evo 7 sound clean? How does it sound when split or in parallel mode?
