Moser Bastard Quote
Hey, so I emailed moser about building me a 26.5'' 7 string bastard and here's there response, it's actually kind of a disheartening response...
Hi Joe, A Bastard V 7 string would start at $3700. Also, we don't do scales longer than 25.5". Here's the ordering info: At this time we are only taking a $100 deposit to put your name on the "building list". We are over two years back ordered so we don't want to take "full payment" OR 50% deposits. We also won't discuss specs or final prices until it's time to build your guitar. However, we WILL tell you if we will build your guitar to the specs you want. Calculating "parts & wood" cost for quotes takes too much of my time, and prices change, so we can't give an accurate quote until it's time to build anyway. A couple of months before we start building we'll send you an email and ask for your specs. At that time we will finalize them and I'll give you a final quote. If we agree, then you'll send a $1500 deposit. The original $100 deposit will be applied to the final payment. After all is finalized and we receive the $1500 deposit, we will start collecting the wood and hardware for your order. Then, when your name comes up on the list we will start building your guitar. Build times range from 6 months to a year depending on how difficult the build. In rare cases it can be sooner and in rare cases it can be longer. We make no "build time" promises, there are too many variables that effect the building of a hand made guitar. Note: The $100 deposit is "non-refundable" if YOU cancel the order. However, if WE decide not to build guitars anymore, your $100 will be refunded. We take building custom guitars VERY seriously as you can tell by our "reviews". If the guitar doesn't "kick ass", it doesn't leave MCS. |

Those Moser Bastards...
At least, that's what I thought you meant before I started reading. I've heard a lot about these kind of custom guitar places that have 1-4 year waiting lists and prices starting at $3000. Kinda disheartening. |

I am not surprised at all..........
I am actually surprised that he even quoted you a seven string guitar
...over a year ago I was talking to him about building me a 7 and he was all ready geared up for specific models only and didn't wanna go to far out of the box,If you know what i mean. Then I seen he had made two people i knew 7's I was Like dumbfounded at the situation i felt i was in. I am now to the conclusion my demands for a custom were a little more extreme then he wanted to get involved with . Neal Moser is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet...seriously in time you'll forget he invented most of the shapes and Ideas for custom guitars that Most manufactures use today! And respect the man..But as far as Moser Guitars I feel they are a little bit of a Shtick!! more looks then Play! lets be xtreme just to be xtreme. ![]() |

It took 18 months for me to get my Jackson - and I was an endorser at the time. 2-3 year wait times for "true" custom work are not unusual. These builders are usually unwilling to change their processes for higher volume - higher volume usually isn't their goal, anyway - so when they ahve a lot of orders, it takes a while.

Damn, 2 years back ordered? I had a hard enough time waiting 3-4 months for a guitar.

But it begs the question-is it really worth the price and wait. Espcially when guitarists go though gear fast. What if in 2 years it doesn't fit you style?..

congrats on considering a moser man, Im actually getting on the build list in about 2 weeks here and I will be ordering either a starblazer, morpheus or arachnid ultra I can tell you this though being the owner of a MCS BVi, everything neal says about his guitars is true, if they dont kick ass they dont leave the mountain, my bastard Vi is the best playing guitar I have ever played, and its a korean guitar, it beats my US jackson and I NEVER thought I would EVER say that about an import, its that good

I was looking to get an order in with Moser, but the waiting list is a serious put-off.
If I had the patience and the money, I'd consider it, but right now I'm very happy with the one custom I do have. ![]() |

does anyone understand the concept of CUSTOM...comes with...the term...12 months atleast to make it...It took 18 months for one BC rich and 21 months for the second one...then It has been 19 1/2 months right now waiting for my new LAG custom...so good things come to those who wait ,the word custom means pull out your green-duggets...and your waiting chair....
