I've got two of the newer 27" models and they're really nice guitars. Also keep in mind that from a build perspective there is no difference between a custom Agile and a production Agile. They're coming off the same factory production line, the 'custom' just has the specs you ask for.

as far as the Agile vs. Xiphos 7 thing, i've played both and they're on the same level, quality wise IMO.
Yeah sounds good man, I've been meaning to drop by but my schedule was all messed up between school and work. Hopefully sometime soon!

I didn't realize the old ones were basswood (probably part of the reason I wasn't blown away tone-wise) so between the new construction and better (IMHO of course) wood choices maybe the newer Agiles are nicer than the ones that I played in the past. Having said that, I think I'd still stick with the Xiphos just because I dig that bridge and the neck was really nice.

Yeah, i'll have to see about it. The 7-string Xiphos still isn't in stock here. My dealer told me it'd be a 3 month wait for a Xiphos to get shipped here. It's not a problem though since atm, my funds are being invested on my 6-stringer (I need it for the band) and I actually want to wait until after exams since a Xiphos may just distract me from studying.

I'm awaiting a quote back from a local luthier here about how much the mods I'd like for a potential Xiphos would cost. I won't say any more about the mod details yet though.

holy fuck!

Bumpzors.

Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread.

I've decided to go for the Xiphos. After emails, consultations and what have you, I decided the Xiphos would be the cheaper and better suited option for me. I might also have some plans for it. >.> So yeah, cheerios, mary poppins, biscuits and potatoes.

Note: I thought you guys might like to know, I sent Kurt another specs sheet for a custom quote and he told me he could do it for 900 shipped to HK. :O Rondomusic's prices and customer service is just

Sure there is. You could argue there's no reason for it to have a trem. Call me crazy, but the tonal benefits, sustain, tuning stability/flexibility, etc far outweigh the ability to wank on the whammy bar now and then.

I gotta say, I agree that a trem isn't necessary for most of the music that I play... granted, I'm no Steve Vai or Joe Satriani, either. But even though I'm a prog/metal/shred player, and ATTEMPT to play like the pros, I really like the hassle-free non-trem guitars better. My S470 gets quite a bit of use, but I rarely ever use the bar. I'm playing a Schecter 006 Elite more than that nowadays... I might even sell it and get a custom Agile... or maybe not. So many decisions! Music Man Silhouette, Ibanez RGA, a Carvin of some variety... I dunno anymore!
