A hardtail Xiphos should have been extended scale. I'll go with the Agile.

Really? I have no problems tuning to ADGCFAD and maintaining good tension. I like baritones, but you can compensate for tension by using thicker strings, whereas there's no way to compensate for the longer neck...I guess besides getting longer fingers?

I have no problem for people prefering the baritone, but I don't think 25.5 should be a deal breaker. The guitar plays and sounds fucking awesome.

Then again, the Agile could too, I wouldn't know

I voted Xiphos. I've never played one, but my take on Agile is that they're great bang for buck guitars, from what I've read. Once that price starts climbing upwards of a grand for custom options on one, I feel I'd be better served to just get a higher quality guitar. You can find some great shit on ebay for around that price, and also, you're getting into Carvin territory. To me, tacking on $200-$300 for custom options doesn't really seem worth it since it's still a Korean made import (even if it is a nice one). Just my 2 cents, I've never played either guitar, so take my opinion for what you think it's worth

I see where you're coming from with your argument but it's sort of funny when you're using it to choose an Indonesian made import

I know, but Ibanez is familiar to me, Agile isn't. It's well known that the Xiphos is a great guitar, from several members here, and reviews around the net. You could say the same thing about Agile, but I've never played one, and they're not as well known, so I would feel safer going with the name that I've played before and are better known. I'm not one to really buy into brand names, it's just a familiarity thing to me as well. Personally, I probably wouldn't buy EITHER guitar, but given a choice between the 2, I'd probably go Xiphos.

well if i really had my choice, i'd have a custom made Ibanez RGA, now that'd be really noice.

but of course were talking about whats made over what could be done, it might be a couple hundred bucks, but you get exactly what u need, true, i've never tried an Agile, but a couple people here have said their pretty good and comfortable to play.

Well, it just seems that since you can get a barebones Carvin for just under a grand, it seems like a much better choice.

I think I'll go for the Agile now and the Xiphos later when they start to appear second hand on the bay.

If you have a CST to sell now is the time because I am possibly about to be very broke for a long time

Lawdy, lawd, overwhelming response, thanks guise - seems like Agile is dominating.

I did make a pros and cons list but i'm still torn. I did all of that Edward De Bono argumentive shit too and thought about every scenario. I like the Xiphos body equally to the superstrat, and the custom would of course be more to my specs I suppose. Higher build quality, i'm not sure though.

Also, JJ I see what you mean, I realized it was nearing Carvin territory too but a Carvin to my specs would probably be closer to 1500.

Argh.

I voted Xiphos 7. I've played both and IMHO I dig the Xiphos more. I really liked the one I picked up at NAMM because it had a great feeling neck, the finish is cool and with a pickup swap (IMO, some people like the D-Activator 7's and that's cool) it would make a fine guitar. The bridge on the Xiphos is awesome too, btw. A lot of the people hating on the guitar have never even tried one and I think that's kinda lame... don't knock it until you tried it! You might be surprised... I don't normally go for "X-shaped" or "V-shaped" guitars but I liked this one.
